Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that is based on grappling and ground fighting. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu often prides itself on being known as the “gentle art”. It allows a smaller, weaker person to use leverage and submissions like chokes and locks to defend against a bigger opponent.
Whether you’re considering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to learn self-defense, start a new hobby, or to simply expand your martial arts repertoire, there’s no doubt that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a beautiful art that is accessible to anyone.
Muay Thai Kickboxing
Muay Thai Kickboxing (also known as the Art of Eight Limbs) is a high paced style of fighting brought to the United States from Thailand. Muay Thai combines the use of hands, knees, elbows and legs to throw powerful strikes (hence the eight limbs).
All of our classes are planned to teach exciting martial arts techniques that have been proven effective in both self defense scenarios and competition.
Combat Wrestling is a generalized term for any style of grappling which does not require a kimono (commonly referred to as a gi). Followers of combat sports may also know Combat Wrestling as No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Our Combat Wrestling program focuses on high percentage, low risk movements and submissions with the intention of immobilizing, submitting or incapacitating opponents or attackers.
No Gi and Submission Wrestling differ from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in both application of technique and speed of movement. Practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are able to employ the use of certain grips and leverage points that are absent in Submission Wrestling making each art unique in philosophy and application.
Youth Martial Arts
Our Young Prodigies Martial Arts program is an inclusive martial arts and social skills development program. Recognizing a need for a well rounded Martial Arts program for children that goes beyond the traditional anti-bullying message often advertised by Martial Arts academies, this program combines easily understood and reinforced skills that will help your child become a more focused, more attentive, and more conscientious member of your family.
Our program provides a well-rounded, holistic experience for all participants. We have combined our respective areas of expertise with outside consultants in order to create a program that builds disciplined fighters, focused scholars, and more productive individuals. The Young Prodigies curriculum was developed with insight from Special Education teachers, YMCA Camp Counselors, and Program Directors, with the intention of launching a truly unique physical and mental education experience for your child.
